Marine / Oil and Gas Outdoor Applications

Modern ships are equipped with digital control units, drives, IP cameras, sensors, and telecommunication units. High-quality copper and fiber optic networks are used for the fast and reliable transmission of large data volumes. Fiber optic Ethernet backbones are ideal for long distances where high bandwidth is required for all data traffic. Copper cables can be used with suitable switches to supply power and data to PoE cameras. The advantage of a stable PoE connection is that the IP cameras are powered via the Ethernet connection.

Within a ship, highly flexible copper cables with PUR, TPU, or TPE outer sheaths and bend-insensitive optical fibers provide optimal space utilization in the narrow ducts. Our PRO-MXS and SMARTFlex-XS RJ-45 connection cables are characterized by a small bending radius and high flexibility.

Indoor cables should be highly resistant to temperature and oil. For outdoor applications, UV-resistant connection cables are recommended to prevent data loss due to sunlight. We offer a wide range of connection solutions that also include IP protection for shipbuilding.

Due to the numerous motors installed on board, vibration influences play an important role in shipbuilding. Our SCREWLock, SCREWBoot, and Push-Pull system solutions guarantee secure data transmission under external vibration influences and prevent Ethernet interruptions. Sensors with frequency measurement can also report motor malfunctions and thus prevent system errors.

Increased indoor temperature could lead to a total interruption of data transmission and thus to control and system failures. Temperature sensors can regulate the room temperature if necessary through the use of fans. Intelligent components report interruptions in data transmission. The use of high-density copper or fiber optic components allows optimal space utilization.

Protect your systems and ensure permanent and professional data transmission in maritime traffic on the high seas. Contact us, we will be happy to advise you.

Industrial Automation (Industry 4.0)

Ethernet-based cabling systems are increasingly replacing the dominant bus systems for controlling and communicating with machines in the factory. This allows production machines to be remotely controlled and monitored via Ethernet connections.

The number of robotic arms in automated production processes is steadily increasing. Industry 4.0 is progressing faster than expected, enabling more cost-effective and efficient production as well as real-time monitoring and control of production halls and machines. Ethernet solutions for industrial automation (Industry 4.0) are the strategically most important business area of AIXONTEC GmbH. We offer a wide range of cables with abrasion-resistant, temperature-resistant, oil- and UV-resistant outer sheaths and systems.

Our portfolio includes water-resistant cabling systems and low-vibration Ethernet connection technology. Intelligent connection technology with RFID technology helps to avoid unwanted interruptions in data exchange. We offer RJ-45 modules in the smallest form factor as well as overmolded RJ-45 and M12 connectors from our own production.

Our own development team and our assembly line in Germany enable us to deliver innovative and high-quality products. Overmolded M12 and RJ-45 patch cables reduce the risk of cable breakage on the connector side and offer high protection against vibrations and contact loss. Thanks to our wide range of innovative products and our strict quality control, certified according to ISO 9001:2015, we have established ourselves as a reliable partner for many well-known manufacturers.

Application Examples:

  • PLC enclosures
  • Enclosures for variable speed drives
  • Digital signal networks
  • Video surveillance systems

Rail Traffic / Infrastructure

Monitoring and security communication systems for rail transport are constantly evolving. Fiber optic cables can be used over long distances for communication and control of real-time monitoring of rail traffic. Network infrastructures can be planned and installed using either copper or fiber optic technology, depending on the application.

New cables and components of the network infrastructure are usually housed in existing control cabinets. Our modular MMP system offers excellent solutions for retrofitting and expanding existing components in control cabinets.

Robust cables with abrasion-resistant outer sheaths or metallic armor to protect against rodents are essential to avoid costly and dangerous data transmission interruptions. Data cables with PE outer sheaths can be laid in empty conduits or directly underground, ensuring invisible, permanently installed, and stable LAN data transmission.

We offer comprehensive solutions for directly laid data cables with UV and rodent protection as well as hybrid cable solutions to optimally support your project.

Intelligent Traffic Systems / Infrastructure

Our cities are becoming increasingly larger and more complex, requiring new digital systems for optimal monitoring and efficient, sustainable traffic management. Future traffic planning for smart cities requires innovative mobility ecosystems that combine freedom of movement in limited space with autonomous driving, safety, and high quality of life while reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

The flood of data collected and managed by IP cameras, traffic lights, toll systems, and digital signage requires a well-thought-out and strong network infrastructure. To connect these devices intelligently with each other and with the traffic control centers, both wireless and wired systems are necessary.

Fiber optics are ideal for long distances and backbone cabling. For intelligent traffic lights and IP cameras on poles with PoE function, outdoor copper cables with UV protection are used.

For traffic control centers, we offer high-quality RJ-45 patch cables that enable data transmission with 10 GbE or even up to 25/40 GbE. The connection of intelligent traffic lights on poles can be ensured by our outdoor copper cables in conjunction with field-assembled CAT6A RJ-45 connectors. For retrofitting fiber optic or copper components, we offer a wide range of solutions for use on DIN rails and in water-protected distribution boxes with IP protection.

For further questions, our trained specialist staff is at your disposal.

Application Examples:

  • Networks for toll systems
  • Networks of video surveillance cameras
  • Signage for driver information

SmartGrid / Energy

Fiber optic cables are used for real-time monitoring, control, and data exchange between various sensors and devices in the power distribution network, such as meters, PLCs, relays, and fault sensors. Fiber optics can transmit optical signals over long distances with high bandwidth without amplifiers.

For optimal data transmission over long distances, minimal light wave loss is crucial. The selection of high-quality components and the clean and professional installation of fiber

As a plug & play solution with prior planning, fibre optic trunk cables can contribute to fast, cost-effective and high-quality data transmission.

Application examples:

  • Intelligent power grids (SmartGrid)
  • Automation networks for substations
  • Automation and control of solar systems

Secure and modern IT network cabling for office, home and data center

When designing the network of your building, it is important to have an efficient, high-performance and future-proof architecture. Structured network cabling is part of the technical infrastructure of a building. It is divided into primary, secondary and tertiary cabling. A structured cabling system is based on a universal structure that offers sufficient reserves for the respective application, and can be used independently from the application.

The PoE standard IEEE 802.3bt enables the power supply of end devices with up to 90W over the same data cable. According to the standards of cabling ISO/IEC 11801, the length of copper cables for tertiary floor cabling to workstations is limited to 90 meters. Fiber optic cables can be used with more bandwidth and longer distances for backbone cabling in the data center.

If the standardized lengths are exceeded, signal loss (insertion loss) as well as propagation delays can affect network performance. Integral parts of a modern and future-proof IT infrastructure include the use of patch panels or modular plug-in systems with high packaging densities, and fiber optic or copper trunks for plug & play solutions. Also, intelligent floor tank solutions are available to allow for future applications and to avoid expensive construction measures.

Passive network cabling should be able to withstand 15-20 years. The network infrastructure should be adapted to your particular application. We would be happy to advise you regarding system solutions best suited to your project or application.

AIXONTEC GmbH not only offers innovative solutions for a fast and future-proof passive network infrastructure, but can support you in selecting the right components for your construction project or other projects. We hope to support you with good network advice, and add you to our list of numerous custome
